Today I would like to present you the outstanding work of Kasia from Malikceramik studio, which I discovered on the Instagram. Specially for us, she agreed to answer few questions about her passion.
Who is Katarzyna Malik-Kosińska?
I am a student of the 5th year at the Academy of Fine Arts in Wroclaw (Poland) – ceramics. I have mountain roots. I like drawing in nice notebooks and drinking nettle. I create pottery for everyday living, but I also love to play with the clay.
What did the beginnings of Malikceramik studio look like?
Malikceramik studio was created in 2015. After the bachelor’s degree, I decided to follow my dream, which was to create a place where I could work and develop my brand identity. At the beginning, my small studio was in a family home, but because of the long distance, it was impossible to study and work at the same time. That is why in March 2016, I moved my studio to Wroclaw. Of course the beginning is never easy. I was trying different things while searching for the right path. I’m still learning, but also I am coming back to my first mugs with a big sentiment. My mom keeps them in a special place, in case I will ever doubt in what I’m doing.
What kind of things are you creating?
In my studio I mainly focus on the cups, saucers and small bowls production. But of course I want to borad my assortment. In the sketchbook, I have some cool ideas for the year 2018 and I hope, I will be able to realize them quickly.
Is it easy to combine passion with the business?
Although I do what I love and feel, sometimes it is not easy. You have to be very careful. I am my own boss, I set the deadlines myself. Good organization and self-discipline are the most important things. Fortunately, I have these all after my parents. I work from Monday to Friday, 8-10 hours depending on how much I need to do. I spend weekends with family and friends. I love my job, but I also respect myself, so I am always trying to find a healthy balance. Sometimes you just have to close the door and relax, not to overwork yourself. I am alone, so I’m dealing with everything: projects, running to the post office, orders management. I am passionate about it, so it really gives me joy and energy.
I love to meet people with passion and Kasia is a great example that passion can also define your way of living. Malikceramik impresses with the aesthetics design, amazing form and attention to every detail. I encourage you to learn more about Kasia’s work:
